Looking over my springs, I have the two short and thin H springs. I have 10 F springs. No single G spring.
The assembly instructions say that F can be used in place of G.
Should I cut spring F down to make it appropriate for replacing G or use it as is (there's more tension with F uncut)?
Thanks,
Eric
Just use as is. The design principle prefers universal parts to reduce complexity and confusion.
So I tried to use an F spring for the as showing in the "animation_MainBody" video from 0:29-0:32. Only one spring/screw are shown. When I attempt to use just one spring the servo is off axis and the compression required is significant. So I'm not going to this until you respond.
Am I suppose to put a spring/screw on the other side too? It makes sense but the video doesn't show this.
With the compression so high relative to the small screws and the board material it makes me think the screw is going to get ripped out of the board. Am I wrong?
It seems to me the shorter G springs are necessary but you favor using the F spring for this purpose too.
I look forward to your thoughts.
Thanks,
Eric
I've been using F on all my later models with no problems at all. The servo may go off axis by the shoulder alone, but later on it will be constrained by the corners of y1 and y2.
The single screw D just prevents the spring F from jumping out of the location. It won't experience the direct elastic force from the spring.
