Meet Quaddle - Petoi's do-it-all desk robot dog, and an open-source quadruped you build in an afternoon and reprogram for years. Start with drag-and-drop blocks, then grow into Python, C++, and ROS. Its four servos give it real four-legged movement: it walks, strafes, spins, talks back, and reacts to your touch. One robot that scales from a kid's first STEM project to a researcher's test bench.

What is Quaddle?

Quaddle is a programmable physical AI robot kit - a four-legged(qudruped) robot dog you assemble yourself and control with code. Unlike wheeled robots, it uses four servo motors to walk, turn, and self-balance like an animal. Retro-mechanical legs drive a full knee lift from a single motor, keeping the kit compact and affordable. It runs on Petoi's open-source OpenCat firmware and ships in three models - Builder, Buddy, and Scout - from $99.

Three Quaddles. Pick where you want to start.

Every model can be built from a kit, programmed in Block coding, Python, C++, and runs on open-source firmware OpenCat. Each one adds more on top of the last - reserve now and choose your exact model at launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a Question? We’ve Got the Answer!

What is Quaddle?

Quaddle is Petoi's open-source, do-it-all desk robot - a 4-servo omnidirectional quadruped robot kit you build yourself and program with block coding, Python, C++, or ROS. It walks, strafes, and spins, and runs on OpenCat, GitHub's most-starred open-source quadruped platform.

Is Quaddle a toy? Do I need a technical background?

No background needed. Start with tap-to-record tricks(Buddy & Scout) and drag-and-drop block coding, then grow into Python and C++ whenever you're ready. It's just as at home on a research bench as on a desk.

Do I need to solder Quaddle?

No. Quaddle assembles from a kit without soldering, so it's approachable for beginners, kids, and classrooms. You build it, then program it - the learning is in the assembly and the code, not in wiring irons.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) as well as PayPal for secure and convenient payment. At this time, we do not accept cash on delivery or personal checks.

Can I 3D print parts for Quaddle?

Yes. Quaddle is a 3D-printable robot kit for customization - Petoi shares printable shells and mounts, and you can snap on LEGO-compatible blocks. Load-bearing joints stay injection-molded because printed parts can't survive Quaddle's dynamic moves.

What can Quaddle do?

Quaddle is a walking robot kit with a 4-servo omnidirectional design. It walks, glides sideways, spins in place, and performs 90+ movements and tricks. Buddy and Scout models add open-domain AI conversation, touch reactions, and a teach-by-hand "Learn & Replay" mode.

What coding languages does Quaddle support?

Quaddle scales with you: drag-and-drop blocks, then MicroPython, Python, C++ in the Arduino IDE, and ROS. It's built on the open-source OpenCat framework, cited in 20+ academic papers, with free curricula for classrooms and self-learners.

What's the difference between Quaddle and Bittle or Nybble?

Quaddle is Petoi's newest platform — a compact, affordable robotics kit with a 4-servo omnidirectional design, built-in AI conversation, a LEGO-compatible shell, and a Raspberry Pi Zero socket on every model. Bittle/Bittle X (9 servos) and Nybble/Nybble Q (11 servos) are built for more complex dog- and cat-like movements, while Quaddle trades some of that complexity for a smaller, more affordable form factor. All three share Petoi's open-source OpenCat platform, so they're all codable with blocks, Python, C++, or ROS.

How does Quaddle compare to Mini Pupper and other open-source quadruped kits?

Quaddle is a fully open-source quadruped robot kit alternative built on OpenCat, GitHub's most-starred quadruped platform. Its 4-servo mechanical design lowers cost and simplifies the build versus higher-servo-count kits, while still supporting block coding, Python, C++, and ROS for research use.

When does Quaddle launch on Kickstarter?

We are launching on September 2, 2026(US Pacific Time).  You can join the free early-access list now to be notified at launch, or place a fully refundable $1 deposit to lock in super-early-bird pricing before other backers.

How much will Quaddle cost?

Quaddle comes in three models. Builder starts at $99 (early bird) / $139 MSRP, Buddy at $139 / $219, and Scout at $179 / $269. By swapping expensive motors for smart mechanics, Quaddle is engineered to cost far less than multi-servo robots.

Is Quaddle open source?

Yes. Quaddle runs on OpenCat, GitHub's most-starred open-source quadruped project, with free curricula, STL files, and an active community. The firmware is open; load-critical joints remain injection-molded for durability.

Is the firmware open source?

Yes. Quaddle runs on OpenCat - GitHub's most-starred open-source quadruped project  with free curricula and STL files, supported by an active community.

Will you share STL files? Is the hardware open source?

Software is open on OpenCat — the same platform as Bittle and Nybble. We'll share 3D-printable shells and mounts for customization. Load-critical joints stay closed — they're injection-molded because printed parts can't survive Quaddle's dynamic moves. Full policy on the Kickstarter page.
